Mirage Studios of Dover, N.H., has announced the publication of it. first comic book, featuring Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This 40-page book will be printed in black and white on newsprint, with a two-color cover printed on glossy stock. The book was conceived, written, and drawn by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird and follow the adventures of four teen-age turtles who have been trained in the secret martial art of the shadow warriors of feudal Japan. They are also mutants altered in form and intelligence by a mysterious radioactive ooze. The four turtles – Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael – embark on a perilous mission to confront their sworn foe, the malevolent Shredder. Publication date for the first issue of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is May 1, 1984. The cover price will be $1.50 and the book will be available for $2 postpaid from Mirage Studios, P.O. Box 1408, Dover, N.H. 03820. Eastman and Laird will be premiering the book at the Portsmouth Comic Book Convention, to be held May 5 at the Howard Johnson’s, Motor Lodge in Portsmouth, N.H.
I love reading things like this, getting to see the roots of the Turtles. On a side note, as I am reading this my wife turns to me and says “Can we order pizza?”, and I’m like, “I’m reading about the Ninja Turtles, and you ask me about pizza. We absolutely have to order pizza now.”
